Now a day gender roles in Colombia are presented in a very traditional way so men and women role in the society have little similarities and a lot of differences.
The biggest similaritie between them is that both have an important and strong paper in children raising so the perfect family image is the one where the kids have a paternal and maternal figure in their house. In this way children are supposed to be happy in their childhood and will grow having good values.
But in this case differences are bigger than similarities. For example when we are talking about take care of childrens. Woman is supposed to be the one closest to the kids and stay in home taking care of her children all the day, whereas the man have to discipline the sons and daughters teaching them different values and how to behave. Other difference is that man always maintain a masculine pride and is the one who bring money to home, while woman stays in home keeping it clean and beautifol.
To conclude, there are a couple of similarities and differences between men and women’s role in Colombia.
